Fashion Alert: Peplum Everything to make it trendier

Peplum is basically a short gathered or pleated strip of fabric attached at the waist of a woman's jacket, dress or blouse to create a hanging frill or flounceThe Peplum was popularized by Dior in the 1940’s with jackets that were nipped at the waist with Peplums at the hip to create an hourglass shape.
It was first worn by Elizabeth II.

The "Peplum" style was introduced to give an illusion of a small waist and a broader pelvic region, and has come into vogue in the past few years. Specially because girls are super skinny these days.
So yes, we have a lot of divas, from Hollywood and Bollywood who have experimented with this style time and again. More often than not, they have all looked stunning.

We love how our Bollywood babes have worn this extremely delicate fashion style.

From L-R:

Bipasha Basu looks great in this knee length, modern, Peplum silhouette dress. Perfect with a fitted bottom. The Peplum extends diagonally to one of her shoulders to give a ruffled look. Loved it.

Parineeti Chopra wears a knee length, bright pink skirt with a Peplum waist. It is a simple yet chick look. She paired it with a white chiffon blouse and nude heels. The bottom of the skirt should have been a bit more fitted though, to give her a sleeker look.

Deepika looks ravishing as always, in her Blood Red Peplum gown, with a mermaid silhouette at the bottom.  The almost bare back of the gown and the gown's color adds to its sex appeal and glam quotient.

Frieda Pinto wears a green Peplum gown from Atelier Versace for Cannes 2012 Red Carpet. The gown is sleek till the thighs and then introduces a slit. The Peplum in her gown is one sided, which adds to the candidness of the outfit. It looks very sophisticated and apt for the event.

But why just experiment with the Western attire when the same can be tried in the traditional way. We have TV Serial actress Aashka wearing a Saree with a Peplum detailed blouse. The pallu creatively slides inside this Peplum blouse and goes over her shoulder. A thumbs up to her for trying this out.

So here's how you can add Peplum to your wardrobe, and be the trendsetting one around:

  1. A Black fitted skirt with sides having Peplum detail (Forever21)
  2. A White Peplum dress with the Peplum silhouette having black mesh detailing on the edges (ASOS)
  3. A Black Peplum top with an embellished shoulder. (ASOS)
  4. A Black Full Sequin Peplum top with side cutouts. (Forever21)
  5. Why not go Peplum in winters? With this Black Peplum jacket with silver zips detail. (Zara)
Now If you are not sure as to how the look is going to compliment your body type, don't stress!
There is something you can try on yourself, with any fitted clothes you have, just to make a few appearances and see how this design suits you.

Now these are Peplum belts, that can make any regular outfit of yours, more chick and glam!
(Both : ASOS).

So get set girls. Give the illusion and create some more magic.
