Soi 7 Pub & Brewery

DLF Cyber City

Soi 7 is situated on the 2nd floor of the newly opened, DLF Cyber Hub. DLF Cyber Hub is basically a complex of some excellent restaurants and cafes, built in a very international manner. So if anyone has not yet been here yet, its a must visit. Just to see how pretty it looks.
Soi 7, as the name suggests is a brewery that serves mainly oriental cuisine. Initially it took us sometime to locate the place once we were inside Cyber Hub, because it looks as though the 2nd Floor is absolutely vacant from the ground level. It was only once we asked somebody around that we could figure it out.
Once we entered, we were glad to see the various options they have just to be seated. From open air couches, to open air tables and chairs, to bar stools in the inside area. The place is very spacious and has not at all been tried to accommodate more people than it can. Since its a brewery, the have a lot of beer barrels inside the restaurant which mainly forms the look and the mood of the place.
We were comfortably seated as soon as the courteous staff escorted us to a table of our choice. We ordered 3 Mocktails, of which the best was a Watermelon based mocktail, made out of fresh watermelon juice. It was deliciously fresh, tangy and yummy for a person who likes watermelons. The mocktails were served in big sized glasses which made them worth the price being paid. For starters we ordered a "Stir fried chicken with basil". The chicken was perfectly cooked, the pieces were aptly sized, and being a Thai preparation, it was tangy, spicy and very delicious. The good part was the flavor of basil, which was still coming through well.
For vegetarian starters we ordered "Cottage cheese dumplings" and "Corn and cheese Wantons". The wantons were served crispy and hot. Once bitten into, the cheese and corn would ooze out and make it totally divine. Combined with the sweet chilly dip, Perfect! The dumplings were of cottage cheese and had been tossed in a soya chilly sauce. They were soft and scrumptious. Just the way dumplings should be. It had ample spring onions and peppers in it, which definitely enhanced the taste. However, since the flavor of cottage cheese was predominant, not for someone who is not so fond of "Paneer".
However, the USP of their starters was the fact that they served us 4 dips to chose from. They were all delicious. 2 being slightly more spicy and pungent, while the others were slightly sweet and spicy. One could chose among them according to one's own taste buds.
Since we were just 3 people, we just ordered one main course. They have predetermined main dishes, with fixed combinations of accompaniments and vegetables along with their sauce. However we asked our server if we could make our own combination and we were free to do so. We then chose vegetables in chilly soya sauce and basil fried rice to go with it.The bad part here is, the first time the dish arrived, instead of giving us fried rice, they served us Hakka Noodles. Once we requested our server to change the dish, we got basil fried rice, but the vegetables hardly had any gravy, they were almost dry.The third time we finally got what we wanted. It tasted splendid though. The vegetables and soya chilly sauce was a regular Chinese preparation, but the Basil Fried Rice were the kill. Each grain of rice was separate, has a bite to it and was flavored extremely well with basil leaves.
In totally, the place gets a thumbs up for its food but not so much for the service they offered us on a not so busy day.
