Fashion Alert: The Royal Gems of India
Traditional Indian Jewelry adding the WOW to Western attire.
Whoever thought only diamonds can embrace western outfits to make them look elegant and classy, was wrong. And whoever thought that the royal, traditional and ethnic jewelry of Indian heritage can only be adorned by brides or ladies wearing lehengas and sarees, was just very heavily mistaken.
Indian traditional jewelry is a state of the art creation that can be used to not just accessorize but enhance the glory of any western outfit,by a lady of any age. They are indeed timeless.
From top left in the image we see Deepika Padukone, who does this brilliantly. She wears a not so blingy white top and a black Alexander McQueen Skirt for Big Star Entertainment Awards. She has on herself a big enough Kundan necklace that beautifully compliments her attire.
But this is not the only time Deepika has teamed up her dresses and gowns with almost bridal jewelry (See 5 and 7) where she teams Kundan necklaces with an LBD and a Black gown respectively.
We then have our very own Kareena Kapoor in a bright green maxi dress which she chose to wear with a Kundan necklace, lined with gold pearls. The wife of the Nawab is sure to carry on the legacy.
Sonam Kapoor can never lag behind when it comes to experimenting, and yes she was one of the first Bollywood Divas who dared to try out this combination. (See 3 and 4). In one she wears a Kundan neck piece lined with rubies to go with a white bodycon dress, while in the other she wears a beautiful Kundan Jewelry piece which had two components: A Kundan choker and a double Kundan string, with an abstract white gown.Yes, the picture looks ancient because this was way back in IIFA Awards 2009.
Not only are the young ones grabbing the new trend of the season, so is the timeless beauty of Bollywood, Sridevi (See 6). She combines a Red gown with a Kundan Necklace just to become the most graceful person at the event.
However, what we can conclude out of these are a few cautions that should be taken before trying out this combo:

However, what we can conclude out of these are a few cautions that should be taken before trying out this combo:
- Tie Up your hair : You don't want messy hair getting entangled in those state of the art necklaces. You also don't want the attention to go anywhere away from the highlight of your look, i.e. your jewelry.
- Minimal Make Up: Wearing a big piece of jewelry means that you have your attention and bling meter on! Don't overdo it to look like you're straight out of a big fat Indian wedding.
- Understated Clothes: You wear this jewelry to add the class, not cluster your look. So make sure the sparkle and bling in your ensemble don't conflict with the 'wow-ness' it has to offer.
